Left the South, travelled North...

Old skool local signs

Well, that's the plan.

All very last minute, but the monthly Smiths/Morrissey disco at the Star & Garter in Manchester is on this Friday, so I've booked a coach (it's what he would've wanted!) to take me up.

Thanks to the wonder of the Internet, I've managed to track down Phill Gatenby, author of Morrissey's Manchester, to be my chaperone for the night.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Smiths/Morrissey disco but Phill says it's the highlight of his month so I'm expecting great things. I gather singing along is encouraged, and getting in early is essential. Presumably, everyone will be "in character"?

What to wear? What to wear!?

I don't own a single approved t-shirt. I'm expecting that jeans are okay. But what of my leather jacket? Will I be hurled bodily from the pub by two vegetarian bouncers? It's a minefield.
